Crop vs. Patch: Which Method Should You Use?
The Crop method is the simplest and most reliable. It physically removes the bottom strip of the image — no artifacts, no blending. The tradeoff is that your image dimensions change slightly (by 12-20 pixels in height). For most use cases this is imperceptible.
The Patch method keeps the original dimensions by sampling the pixel row just above the watermark and painting it over the badge area. This works beautifully when the bottom of the image has a relatively uniform color or texture (sky, gradient, solid background). For complex scenes where the watermark overlaps important detail, the crop method will produce cleaner results.
What About Invisible Watermarks Like SynthID?
Google's SynthID is an invisible watermarking technology that embeds a signal directly into the pixel data of generated images. It's designed to be imperceptible to the human eye but detectable by algorithms. Our tool removes the visible badge — the text overlay you can see. The invisible SynthID signal is embedded at the sub-pixel level and is not something that can be visually detected or that affects the appearance of your image.

Tips for Best Results
Use the highest resolution output from your AI generator. Higher resolution means the watermark occupies a proportionally smaller area of the image.
For Gemini images, the default 20px preset handles 95% of cases. If Google updates the badge size, use the custom slider to match.
If you plan to crop the image anyway (for social media dimensions, for example), do the watermark removal first, then crop to your target aspect ratio.
